Yet many owners, designers, and contractors familiar with these approaches plan to increase adoption, and building product manufacturers expect industrialized construction to become standard practice within three to five years.<\/p><p>\n\u201cThis research makes it clear that while North America has been slower to adopt productization and DfMA, those familiar with them increasingly recognize the value and are preparing to scale,\u201d said Donna Laquidara-Carr, PhD, LEED AP, Industry Insights Research Director at Dodge. \u201cThe opportunity now is to close the gap by addressing long-standing barriers and enabling teams to work in more connected, efficient ways.\u201d<\/p><p>\n<b>Adoption Remains Limited<\/b><\/p><p>\nWhile prefabrication is widely used in North America (73% of practitioners familiar with industrialized construction), adoption drops significantly for more advanced methods:<\/p><ul class=\"bwlistdisc\">\n<li>\n35% use productization<\/li>\n<li>\n17% use DfMA<\/li>\n<li>\nBoth trail the global average of 49%<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>\nAwareness is also lower, with only about half of practitioners reporting moderate familiarity\u2014well below global benchmarks.<\/p><p>\n<b>Benefits Are Clear for Early Adopters<\/b><\/p><p>\nAmong those using productization or DfMA:<\/p><ul class=\"bwlistdisc\">\n<li>\n<b>73%<\/b> report improved schedule performance<\/li>\n<li>\n<b>47%<\/b> cite greater cost predictability and more consistent, reusable design<\/li>\n<li>\n<b>60%<\/b> believe productization would improve project outcomes<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>\n<b>Demand Is Growing Among Those Familiar with Industrialized Construction<\/b><\/p><p>\nIntent to expand use is strong:<\/p><ul class=\"bwlistdisc\">\n<li>\n<b>59%<\/b> plan to increase productization<\/li>\n<li>\n<b>57%<\/b> plan to increase DfMA within three years<\/li>\n<li>\nAt least <b>75%<\/b> expect these methods to become standard at their organization across a significant share of projects<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>\n<b>Barriers Are Holding the Market Back<\/b><\/p><p>\nKey challenges include:<\/p><ul class=\"bwlistdisc\">\n<li>\nTraditional procurement models <b>(69%)<\/b>, which limit early collaboration<\/li>\n<li>\nLack of knowledge <b>(55%)<\/b>, with limited access to practical guidance<\/li>\n<li>\nWeak supply chain integration, with few long-term partnerships in place<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>\n<b>A Market at an Inflection Point<\/b><\/p><p>\nThe gap between current adoption and future intent is significant, but so is the opportunity.
