MINNEAPOLIS & ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Children\u2019s Minnesota today announced the appointment of Sameer Gupta, M.D., MBA, as executive vice president and chief medical officer, effective Aug. 1.<\/p><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>

\nAs executive vice president and chief medical officer, Dr. Gupta will serve on Children\u2019s Minnesota\u2019s executive leadership team and provide clinical leadership, direction and oversight across the organization. He will help advance clinical quality and patient safety, strengthen clinician engagement and well-being, support research and education, and lead continuous improvement efforts aligned with the organization\u2019s strategic priorities around access, equity, experience and financial sustainability.<\/p>

\nDr. Gupta is an accomplished physician executive with more than a decade of senior leadership experience in large, complex academic medical centers, including extensive pediatric leadership. He is recognized for advancing clinical quality and patient safety, strengthening physician engagement, improving hospital operations and leading meaningful, sustained transformation.<\/p>

\nMost recently, Dr. Gupta served as vice president of medical affairs at M Health Fairview \u2013 University of Minnesota Medical Center and Masonic Children\u2019s Hospital, where he was a core member of the executive leadership team for a 900-bed academic health center. In that role, he provided oversight for quality, safety, patient outcomes, physician leadership and hospital operations.<\/p>

\nHe previously served as executive medical director and then chief medical officer at M Health Fairview Masonic Children\u2019s Hospital, where he helped shape the vision for patient safety, quality and experience. Dr. Gupta is also a pediatric intensivist and served as division director of pediatric critical care at the University of Minnesota Medical School, with a focus on faculty development, education and research growth.<\/p>
