{"id":12201,"date":"2026-05-28T03:56:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T01:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stocks-future.com\/?guid=a52b3d4db58f7432a5e87c238bbb9c58"},"modified":"2026-05-28T03:56:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T01:56:00","slug":"vanderhoof-municipal-workers-vote-overwhelmingly-in-favour-of-strike-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stocks-future.com\/?p=12201","title":{"rendered":"Vanderhoof Municipal Workers Vote Overwhelmingly in Favour of Strike Action"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>VANDERHOOF, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CUPE 1632 members have voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action following months of uncertainty after Mayor and Council declined to ratify an agreement that had been reached at the bargaining table.<\/p><br\/><a href=\"https:\/\/mms.businesswire.com\/media\/20260527956044\/en\/807835\/5\/Logo_CUPE_Communique.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mms.businesswire.com\/media\/20260527956044\/en\/807835\/22\/Logo_CUPE_Communique.jpg\" \/><\/a><br\/><a href=\"https:\/\/mms.businesswire.com\/media\/20260527956044\/en\/807835\/5\/Logo_CUPE_Communique.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mms.businesswire.com\/media\/20260527956044\/en\/807835\/21\/Logo_CUPE_Communique.jpg\" \/><\/a><p>\n\u201cWorkers believed a fair agreement had been reached through negotiations,\u201d said Dan Middleton, President of CUPE Local 1632. \u201cAfter months of delays, our members are asking the employer to honour that agreement and provide some certainty for workers and their families.\u201d<\/p><p>\nNegotiations started in November 2024, and a tentative agreement was reached in January of this year with the assistance of a mediator from the BC Labour Relations Board.<\/p><p>\n\u201cOur members care deeply about this community and the services they provide every day,\u201d said Middleton. \u201cStrike action is always a last resort, but our members and this community deserve stability and an employer that follows through on the commitments made at the bargaining table.\u201d<\/p><p>\nThe union says the strike vote gives workers a mandate to take the next steps in the bargaining process if needed, including issuing 72-hour strike notice.<\/p><p>\nCUPE Local 1632 represents 22 workers employed by the District of Vanderhoof who provide the community services residents rely on every day.
