{"id":2801,"date":"2026-05-08T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stocks-future.com\/?guid=cfb10d614c40580210132e9dbc1868d7"},"modified":"2026-05-08T13:00:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T11:00:00","slug":"no-deal-reached-at-cupe-long-term-care-table","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stocks-future.com\/?p=2801","title":{"rendered":"No Deal Reached at CUPE Long Term Care Table"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HALIFAX-KJIPUKTUK, Nova Scotia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Long term care workers represented by CUPE and government representatives bargained early into morning today; however, no deal was reached.<\/p><br\/><a href=\"https:\/\/mms.businesswire.com\/media\/20260508783159\/en\/807835\/5\/Logo_CUPE_Communique.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mms.businesswire.com\/media\/20260508783159\/en\/807835\/22\/Logo_CUPE_Communique.jpg\" \/><\/a><br\/><a href=\"https:\/\/mms.businesswire.com\/media\/20260508783159\/en\/807835\/5\/Logo_CUPE_Communique.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mms.businesswire.com\/media\/20260508783159\/en\/807835\/21\/Logo_CUPE_Communique.jpg\" \/><\/a><p>\n\u201cIt\u2019s disappointing. We went to the table, presenting two counter offers with different wages that would bring our lowest paid workers closer to a living wage, but were met with little movement,\u201d said CUPE Long Term Care Coordinator Kim Cail. \u201cThe new offer, which expires in 2028, was better than the last, but would still leave support classifications at just over $23 by the end. That\u2019s not a living wage now and it certainly won\u2019t be in 2028.\u201d<\/p><p>\n\u201cI was hopeful when the government agreed to come back to the table,\u201d admitted CUPE Long Term and Community Care Committee Chair Christa Sweeney, \u201cbut after hours of bargaining and little movement, that hope died.
