Schools and families deserve certainty now \u2014 not silence and last-minute decisions about whether these supports will continue.\u201d<\/p><p>\nThe organization says the ongoing lack of confirmation is already creating unnecessary instability for schools attempting to prepare for the next academic year.<\/p><p>\n\u201cCouncillors regularly speak about the importance of literacy, student wellbeing, and educational success,\u201d said McNeil. \u201cThose commitments have to be reflected in real funding decisions. You cannot claim literacy is a priority while refusing to confirm whether school library services will continue.\u201d<\/p><p>\nSchool librarians support students with literacy development, research skills, digital literacy, learning supports, and access to safe and inclusive learning spaces. Advocates warn that destabilizing these services will have real consequences for students and school communities.<\/p><p>\n\u201cThis uncertainty is not neutral anymore,\u201d said McNeil. \u201cEvery week council delays confirmation creates more instability for schools, staff, and families.
