If the Village does not improve its monetary offer, workers will be taking job action, up to and including a full strike.<\/p><br\/><a href=\"https:\/\/mms.businesswire.com\/media\/20260511064226\/en\/807835\/5\/Logo_CUPE_Communique.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mms.businesswire.com\/media\/20260511064226\/en\/807835\/22\/Logo_CUPE_Communique.jpg\" \/><\/a><br\/><a href=\"https:\/\/mms.businesswire.com\/media\/20260511064226\/en\/807835\/5\/Logo_CUPE_Communique.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mms.businesswire.com\/media\/20260511064226\/en\/807835\/21\/Logo_CUPE_Communique.jpg\" \/><\/a><p>\n\u201cWe came to the table to get a fair deal that is consistent with other municipalities in the region. But the Village\u2019s refusal to offer us what other workers that do the same work means we need to turn up the pressure to get what we deserve,\u201d says Kevin Pii, a Fruitvale worker and vice-president of CUPE 2087.<\/p><p>\nFruitvale workers voted 100 per cent in favour of strike action in early March, after a mediation failed to help CUPE 2087 and the Village reach an agreement.<\/p><p>\n\u201cWe know this could disrupt our community, but we\u2019re asking for a fair deal,\u201d said Pii. \u201cWe deserve the same respect and compensation as municipal workers do in neighbouring communities. Fruitvale residents get it \u2013 now our employer must get it as well.\u201d<\/p><p>\nFruitvale workers will be in a legal strike position at 10 am, Thursday morning, May 14.
