Tanium Becomes ENS Alta Certified, Meeting Spain’s Highest Standard for Critical Infrastructure Security

The certification positions Tanium to serve Spain's most sensitive public sector environments, independently validated by the CCN at the highest level of the national security framework

BARCELONA, Spain--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tanium, a leader in Autonomous IT, today announced it has achieved ENS Alta certification for its SaaS solution, Tanium Cloud. ENS Alta is the highest tier under Spain's Esquema Nacional de Seguridad (Real Decreto 311/2022) and the certification that governs access to Spain's most sensitive public sector environments, from central government ministries and autonomous communities to critical infrastructure operators and essential service organizations. Achieving it requires independent validation by the Centro Criptológico Nacional (CCN), confirming Tanium's Autonomous IT Platform security architecture meets one of the most rigorous national evaluation frameworks in Europe.

The certification defines the technical controls, audit procedures and organizational requirements that information systems must meet. Compliance with ENS is a legal requirement for all Spanish public sector entities and a growing expectation for private sector organizations operating in regulated industries. The market is also under strong regulatory acceleration: the transposition of NIS2 and the entry into force of DORA are further expanding the population of organizations that treat ENS Alta-level controls as a benchmark for vendor selection, even where there is no direct legal obligation to do so.

"As someone who grew up in Spain, this certification carries real meaning for me beyond the commercial milestone. ENS Alta certification defines which platforms can be trusted with the most sensitive public sector environments and I’m proud Tanium meets this standard," said Pedro Diaz, chief revenue officer at Tanium. "For Spanish public sector organizations and essential service operators, this means they can now deploy the Tanium Autonomous IT Platform knowing it has been independently validated at the highest level of the national framework. Spain is a strategically important and growing market for us, and this certification accelerates our ability to serve the organizations that keep critical infrastructure running, with the real-time visibility, autonomous execution and audit-ready compliance evidence their ENS programs demand.”

The CCN evaluation examines the full spectrum of security controls under CCN-STIC guidelines, including asset management, access control, cryptography, incident response, business continuity, system integrity, and supply chain security. For Spanish public sector organizations and essential service operators, this means the Tanium Autonomous IT Platform has been independently verified against the same controls their own ENS compliance programs require, enabling customers to significantly reduce the time required to produce audit-ready compliance evidence.

For Spanish organizations deploying the Tanium Autonomous IT Platform, ENS Alta certification delivers three concrete operational benefits.

  • Accelerate ENS compliance: Producing audit-ready evidence can require weeks of manual data collection and cross-referencing across multiple tools. With Tanium, the same evidence can now be produced directly from a single console, representing a measurable reduction in audit preparation time, cost and risk.
  • One platform for three regulatory frameworks: Organizations subject to ENS, NIS2, and DORA have historically managed achieving compliance through separate tools, audit trails, and vendors. Tanium consolidates all three into a single deployment, one audit trail, and one vendor accountability chain, reducing operational complexity and the attack surface created by proliferating security agents.
  • Real-time visibility across the full environment: Tanium delivers a near-complete, real-time inventory of assets in seconds, giving compliance, incident response and risk management programs the real-time foundation they depend on.

Beyond its commercial significance, ENS Alta certification is a rigorous and independent technical validation of the Tanium Autonomous IT Platform. The CCN evaluation process examines security design, development practices, cryptographic implementation, access controls, and operational procedures in depth. For technically sophisticated buyers across Spain and beyond, CCN validation at the Alta level carries a level of credibility that no marketing claim can replicate.
